Washington Post: What You Need to Know About Health and Wellness Coaching

The Washington Post published a great article today on what we do as a health and wellness Coach.

The outcome of health coaching is positive behavior change, or what I like to call behavior engineering. Behaviors can be engineered for stickiness based on what is important to you, what you value, and a strong understanding of what will work best in your life. The person with that understanding of you - is you. Coaching is built around your expertise in yourself and the coaches expertise in working with you as a guide to where you want to take your health.

Though coaching is not counseling, a Coach uses various skill sets that are found in counseling and other professions to assist you from your point A to your point B. Whatever that point B might be. A Health Coach works with you to create sustainable health habits and self-directed behavior change. Instead of telling you what you should change in your life, a Health Coach works with you on how to affect your desired changes. Using a proven system based on your own vision, a Health Coach walks you through the steps you will use to build new healthy habits and create positive sustainable behavior change.
